What does PE 80 mean?

PE 80 materials, as its name suggests, have less density than PE100 polyethylene materials and therefore, PE 80 polyethylene pipes are both heavier and thicker.

According to the standards, PE 80 polyethylene materials are currently used most in production of corrugated double wall pipes and some of the manufacturers of polyethylene pipes still use PE 80 grade materials for production of huge sized and under pressure pipes which is a mistake and in both long term and short term will sustain a loss to the consumers. The polyethylene pipes which are manufactured by PE80 material are used in tiny sizes and for agricultural lands and gardens for the purpose of irrigation.

Due to the developments in the polyethylene and polymer industry and also with production of PE 100 polyethylene materials, PE 80 polyethylene materials are now less commonly used for production of pipes and connections and are not used in critical projects or irrigation and PE 80 polyethylene pipes are mostly used for sewage transfer and PE 80 polyethylene materials are almost out of date.
